AXIRON- testosterone solution

Testosterone, as esters such as testosterone undecanoate or testosterone buciclate, has been studied and promoted as a male contraceptive analogous to estrogen-based contraceptives in women. A similar 2012 review also found increased exercise capacity and reasoned the benefits generlizable to women. Over the 3 to 6-month course of the studies reviewed, testosterone store therapy appeared safe and generally effective, and (ruling out prostate cancer) the authors found no justification to absolutely restrict its use in men with CHF. As of 2014update, a number of lawsuits are underway against manufacturers of testosterone, alleging a significantly increased rate of stroke and heart attack in elderly men who use testosterone supplementation.needs update Major brand names of testosterone and/or its esters include Andriol, Androderm, AndroGel, Axiron, Delatestryl, Depo-Testosterone, Intrinsa, Nebido, Omnadren, Primoteston, Sustanon, Testim, TestoGel, TestoPatch, Testoviron, and Tostran. Additionally, advertising from drug companies selling testosterone and human growth hormone, as well as dietary supplement companies selling all kinds of “boosters” for aging men, have emphasized the “need” of middle-aged or ageing men for testosterone.
DHT concentration increased in parallel with testosterone concentration during AXIRON treatment. Alcohol based products, including AXIRON, are flammable; therefore, patients should be advised to avoidsmoking, fire or flame until the AXIRON dose applied has dried. Changes in serum lipid profile may require dose adjustment or discontinuation of testosterone therapy. The treatment of hypogonadal men with testosterone may potentiate sleep apnea in some patients, especially those with risk factors such as obesity and chronic lung disease. Conversely, consider the possibility of testosterone and anabolic androgenic steroid abuse in suspected patients who present with serious cardiovascular or psychiatric adverse events. Some studies, but not all, have reported an increased risk of MACE in association with use of testosterone replacement therapy in men. There have been postmarketing reports of venous thromboembolic events, https://notes.medien.rwth-aachen.de/WgWssR6pSVq6NHH_eVs_4A including deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE), in patients using testosterone products, such as AXIRON.
A postmarketing analysis by the manufacturer of Aveed (testosterone undeconate injection) found that POME occurred at a rate of less than 1% per injection per year for Aveed. Symptoms of POME include cough, shortness of breath, tightening of the throat, chest pain, sweating, dizziness, and fainting. Injectable forms of buy testosterone gel can cause a lung problem called pulmonary oil microembolism (POME). Gynecomastia and breast tenderness may occur with high dosages of testosterone due to peripheral conversion of testosterone by aromatase into excessive amounts of the estrogen estradiol.
During the 120 day trial one patient discontinued treatment because of affect lability/anger which was considered possibly related to AXIRON administration. Because clinical trials are conducted under widely varying conditions, adverse reaction rates observed in the clinical trials of a drug cannot be directly compared to rates in the clinical trials of another drug and may not reflect the rates observed in practice. One actuation delivers 30 mg of testosterone in 1.5 mL of solution. While interpersonal testosterone transfer can occur with a T-shirt on, it has been shown that transfer can be substantially reduced by wearing a T-shirt and the majority of residual testosterone is removed from the skin surface by washing with soap and water.

Tell your healthcare provider about all of the medicines you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements. Women who are pregnant or who may become pregnant should avoid contact with the area of the skin where AXIRON has been applied. AXIRON®(AXE-e-RON)(testosterone)Topical Solution, for Topical Use Table 3 summarizes the proportion of subjects having average testosterone concentrations within the normal range on Days 60 and 120. Patients were instructed to apply AXIRON to unclothed, clean, dry, and unbroken skin. AXIRON was evaluated in a multicenter, open label, 120-day trial that enrolled 155 hypogonadal men at 26 clinical research centers. Patients should be advised to avoid swimming or washing the application site until 2 hours following application of AXIRON.
Endogenous androgens, including testosterone and dihydrotestosterone (DHT), are responsible for the normal growth and development of the male sex organs and for maintenance of secondary sex characteristics. The administration of exogenous testosterone has been reported to suppress spermatogenesis in the rat, dog and non-human primates, which was reversible on cessation of the treatment. Androgens, including AXIRON, may decrease concentrations of thyroxin-binding globulins, resulting in decreased total T4 serum concentration and increased resin uptake of T3 and T4. Gynecomastia may develop and may persist in patients being treated with androgens, including AXIRON, for hypogonadism.
If testosterone abuse is suspected, check serum testosterone concentrations to ensure they are within therapeutic range. Testosterone has been subject to abuse, typically at doses higher than recommended for the approved indication and in combination with other anabolic androgenic steroids. If a venous thromboembolic event is suspected, discontinue treatment with AXIRON and initiate appropriate workup and management see ADVERSE REACTIONS. An increase in red blood cell mass may increase the risk of thromboembolic events. If hematocrit becomes elevated, stop therapy until hematocrit decreases to an acceptable level.
