About Sumnerfilm

After graduating from the #CollegeOfCharleston, I backpacked across New Zealand with my VHS reel in my bag to give to Peter Jackson. I figured if I was going anyway, I should drop in and see if Lord of the Rings needed any help. I didn't get to meet Peter, but I did leave that tape in the Weta production office. Even though I'm still waiting on my call back from Weta, when I got back to the states after an amazing 3 months, I landed a gig with the legendary music photographer Danny Clinch. Filming rock and roll jam bands at the Bonnaroo music festival, making a music documentary called 3000 Miles to Graceland. An incredible 3-days of music and parties and unreal footage and energy. 3 months later, I was driving across the country to get my start in Hollywood. I started working on a Roger Corman film called Tyrannosaurus Wrecks, where I found myself deep in the dungeons of Crazy Gideon's place. I was working for free, but it started a career that has taken me all over the world.  This film led to over a decade on films, television, commercials and photo shoots. I've worked in every stage of production including , production design, props, camera, lighting, editing and writing. When the writers strike hit, I got wind of a budding television channel - The Documentary Channel, where I joined and started my career in network TV. Working to market and brand the channel and creating and developing new content. We had long steady success, and grew from public interest to a commercial channel in over 40 million homes. We worked with incredible documentary filmmakers along the way, and were so successful that we were purchased by Participant Media. I moved to Beverly Hills and was there when we faded out  Doc and were full speed ahead on the new channel pivot. I was tasked as a Senior Producer, branding the new channel, developing and creating new content. Launch spots and branded spots, development meetings and deadlines for different versions of promos. It was an incredible environment and have made so many lifelong friends. The spirit of the channel and the positive social change we helped enact for people and the environment is something I'll always hold dear to my heart. Now years later "creating content for social change" is such a buzz word, and we were the first to put that into motion. Pivot eventually lost it's steam and faded to black, I found my way to a new CBS show called “The Inspectors” where I joined the team as a Producer and Editor for 4 seasons at Litton Entertainment, later merging with Hearst Television. We produced over 170 hours of network #television shows a year. We worked with National Geographic, FredTV from Australia and produced our own Original that engaged younger audience for ABC, CBS, NBC, CW and other digital networks. Now with incredible experience and contacts, I'm looking to find new creative endeavors and work with amazing brands. No project or brand is too small or too big!
