Mike Savage is a 25-year music business veteran with a well-rounded knowledge of the music, entertainment, broadcasting, and new media industries.

He was most recently the Manager, Artist & Partner Relations for TuneCore, the independent digital music distribution, publishing, and licensing service.

Mike is also the imaging voice of SiriusXM’s “The Spectrum” (Channel 28).

In 2006, Savage formed Mike Savage Artist Management. Along with securing recording contracts, booking worldwide tours, negotiating deals, supervising record production, handling promotional activities, coordinating album releases and building strategic alliances, Savage’s management company has developed creative marketing strategies that have sold well over 100,000 albums and 500,000 song downloads, garnering over 200 million song streams, while also generating over $1,000,000 in NTR.

Savage also owns and operates ArtistAdvisors, a boutique firm offering comprehensive consulting services for musicians, songwriters, and bands at varying stages in their development.

In addition to artist management/consulting, Mike Savage was most recently the host of the internationally-syndicated Top 40/CHR countdown program “The World Chart Show” for Radio Express. He was also the co-host of “The Session” on legendary Los Angeles rock station KLOS-FM.

Mike is a frequent guest speaker on music industry conference panels (SXSW, CMJ) and at business schools such as UCLA, Berklee, Boston University, The Art Institutes, and Musician’s Institute.

    TuneCore

    Manager, Artist & Partner Relations

    Brought on to open/launch the digital music distribution company’s Los Angeles office, acting as point-person for the brand on the west coast. Tasked with identifying artists, songwriters, labels, and other industry entities that would benefit from a TuneCore relationship, while establishing awareness and elevation of the service in the market. • Facilitated the most new clients of any market in the U.S., contributing to a record-setting number of new releases for the company. • Hosted monthly “LunchCore” meet-ups, connecting L.A.-based executives from varying sectors of the music industry for networking opportunities, in order to bring the industry together and create human connections. • Regularly held one-on-one “Virtual Mentor Sessions” with TuneCore clients at varying stages of their careers, offering professional guidance and tailored music marketing strategies while ensuring the clients were supported throughout. • Collaborated with Marketing, Social Media, Publishing and International departments to initiate promotional/awareness-building opportunities for clients on a global scale.

    Built artist management and consultancy firm from the ground up. Signed and manage roster of artists, with responsibilities that include: arranging co-writing sessions, negotiating tours in the U.S. and overseas, supervising record production, devising marketing plans with DSPs, coordinating album releases, and building strategic alliances. • Developed marketing strategies that have sold over 100,000 albums and 500,000 song downloads,garnering over 200 million song streams, while also generating over $1,000,000 in NTR. • Built exceptional level of awareness for newcomer Meiko by reaching out to tastemakers, securing radio airplay and building a strong online presence, sparking a bidding war. Negotiated a multi-album deal with MySpace/Interscope Records and again with Concord Music Group. • Discovered Grammy-nominated alt-pop act Capital Cities, and orchestrated a marketing campaign for their debut EP, involving online publicity and radio promotion campaigns. This led to sell-out L.A.-area shows, label interest, an eventual chart-topping single, and a signing with Capitol Records. • Re-vitalized the career of Canadian singer-songwriter Esthero, executing a major marketing initiative with no budget for her self-released album. Licensed the LP to Universal for a Canada-only release, and mirrored the marketing efforts in the U.S. with our own release, PR and radio campaigns. The album debuted on the Billboard Heatseekers chart in the U.S., and had multiple song placements in major network television programs.

    Contributed to Affiliate Consultancy Program to scout for emerging composers, artists and songwriters in various genres (acknowledged by department head as the most-successful consultant in the program). • Utilized experience as an artist manager and radio programmer by participating in SESAC Songwriter Bootcamps, and spoke at panel discussions for SESAC members in order to offer advice to attendees.

    Recruited by visionary entrepreneur and charged with finding and signing talent for pioneering digital music service. Identified artists, negotiated deals, developed promotional campaigns, and liaised with artist managers. • Signed 50+ acts to digital distribution agreements in less than a year and made important revisions to the company’s marketing pitch, which involved simplifying the approach to make the deals easier for artists to understand. This resulted in agreements with another 50 artists. • Led a campaign to bring marketing, promotion and PR in house, which resulted in a 50% cost save.

    Key catalyst in launching company’s global artist discovery/development division, with primary goal of identifying talent worthy of signing, licensing, publishing, management, and legal representation. • Planned and executed variety of strategies to help secure deals for artist clients, including distribution of music and newsletters to key industry leaders, music placement in film, TV, advertising and video games,and global radio promotion. • Played key role in conceptualizing and implementing MUSEXPO Conference in Los Angeles.
