About FionaM

Hello, I'm an experienced creative, development and production executive formerly based at Sony Pictures, 20th Century Fox, and Lionsgate with 20 plus years spent creating, developing and producing studio films, TV series, independent features and lifestyle programming. I have also launched and funded, three media companies, as well as raised financing for numerous productions and several slates, ranging from 1 to 30 M USD. Before working in Hollywood I was a television journalist and producer based in Europe for 7 years, working for CNN, ABC and CBS out of Paris and London. I set up my first company, Europe TV, in Luxembourg and Paris. For the next seven years, I developed and produced shows for Entertainment Tonite, CNN, ABC, CBS News, Canal Plus and the BBC out of Paris. I then worked for Lionsgate/Gaumont on the first season of The Highlander shot in Paris. From there I turned my attention to scripted formats, and working in a narrative genre. I moved back to New York City and began working for Fine Line Features, then Gotham Entertainment and other feature film companies in development, with several of my own projects being optioned along the way. Several years later, I moved to Los Angeles to become the head of Production and Development at Sony Pictures, for Turman Morrissey. While there I set up several feature films ranging from 7  to 80 Million USD. I then moved on to an In House producing deal with Davis Entertainment /20th Century Fox. From there I produced and directed several films shot on location in Vancouver, BC.  On the strength of that I launchd my first production company Future World Media, completing original projects and selling formats to buyers such as Freemantle, Zodiak and Left Field. I then launched Ascent Media Group, focused solely on scripted programming and international partnerships. We have now completed our first feature film shot in LA and London, and have six other projects optioned and in development with European financiers. In January 2020, for Ascent Media, I completed the feature film (Tell Me I Love You, a music driven romantic comedy shot in Malibu and Los Angeles) being released in June. I was the writer and director, and my company Ascent Media Group, produced. As I near the end of this wave of production, I'm open to re-entering a full time position at a network, studio, production company or media entity. I love a dynamic, fast-paced work environment and collaborating with a team.  I also love international storytelling and a global approach to media. I'm extremely capable and highly experienced in international productions. Some of the more complex locations I've shot and produced in, include Cambodia, Vietnam, The Soviet Union, Morocco, Hong Kong, South Africa, Brazil, Eastern Europe, and parts of Latin America and the Amazon jungle. I'm interested in opportunities that might allow me to utilize my twenty plus  years of across-the-board entertainment industry experience, as well as the strong skills I developed as an entrepreneur, fund raiser, and founder of three companies. In these challenging times, a mixed skill set, flexible mindset, and optimism will help us all carry through. Wishing you all safe journey through these times, and looking forward to hearing from you. Fiona Mackenzie
