Summary

I am an award-winning documentary filmmaker, writer, and journalist. But what drives me most is that I LOVE a good story, and I have spent my life working across all media in search of them. Along the way, I’ve held professional positions such as Director of Original Programming at HBO, producer for the Emmy-winning web series, “Retro Report,” and been an investigative reporter for PBS Frontline and ABC World News Tonight. I started my career as a newspaper reporter in upstate New York, covering the state’s prison system. Last year a book I wrote on the history of a notorious federal prison for drug users was re-published by an academic press, and I also write for the music, arts, and culture online publication, Please Kill Me. I also write and produce short, independent films – more than a dozen and counting! – that have been screened all over the world. I am MacDowell fellow, have taught broadcast journalism and documentary film at Columbia University and Ohio Wesleyan University. Last thing – I sing at least a half-hour every day.
